A capsule collection of men's rash guards, cut from stretchy UV-resistant fabric in the classic OB colourways. Streamlined fits. Quick-drying. Long sleeves for the longer days in the water. Built for protection. Cut for the look of it. Designed in London since 2007.
Orlebar Brown began in 2007 with a swim short cut from the pattern of a traditional man's suit trouser. The rash guard came later, on the same principle. A piece of technical swimwear, made to keep the sun off and the cut sharp. We made ours for the days you spend in the water for longer than a swim, and the days you spend out of it without changing.
What makes Orlebar Brown rash guards unique?
Our rash guards are designed with the same tailoring discipline as our swim shorts: a streamlined cut, a quick-drying fabric, and a UV-resistant build. Cut closer to a polished swim top than a technical surf piece, so they work in the water and on dry land. Available in the classic OB colourways to coordinate with our swim shorts.
Do Orlebar Brown rash guards offer UV protection?
Yes. Our rash guards are made from a UV-resistant fabric designed to protect the skin from the sun across long swims, surf sessions and days on the water.
Can I wear a rash guard out of the water?
Yes. Cut as a streamlined layer rather than a technical surf piece, our rash guards work as a lightweight long-sleeved top out of the water as well as in it. Wear them under a linen shirt on cooler mornings, or alone over a swim short on the walk back from the beach.
Are Orlebar Brown rash guards quick-drying?
Yes. The fabric is quick-drying and designed to move with the body, in the water and out.
How do I choose the right size?
Our rash guards are cut to a streamlined fit. If you prefer a closer compression-style fit, choose your usual size. If you prefer a slightly more relaxed feel for layering, consider sizing up.
Are Orlebar Brown rash guards suitable for surfing and watersports?
Yes. The combination of stretchy UV-resistant fabric and a streamlined fit makes our rash guards well-suited to surfing, paddleboarding, sailing and longer swims, while staying refined enough to wear off the water.
Are Orlebar Brown rash guards sustainable?
Orlebar Brown is a carbon neutral company, rebalancing carbon through Blue Carbon projects with SeaTrees, restoring coastal ecosystems.
