Eight styles. Four fits. Italian linen, micro-cord cotton, cotton-stretch, fine-stripe linen, merino jersey. Pressed creases for the longer evenings. Drawcord waists for the easier days. Signature side fasteners carried up from the swim short. Tailored, classic, relaxed, drawcord. Designed in London since 2007. Woven and knitted in Italy.

Our trousers come in four fits. Tailored is the closer, more considered cut: the Griffon in Italian linen, the Fallon in cotton-stretch, the Struma in graphite merino, the Alfred in finer cotton. Tailored Drawcord keeps the line of a tailored trouser with the ease of an elasticated waist, anchored by the Alex. Relaxed is cut wider through the leg, suited to warmer weather and slower hours: the Sonoran, Cornell and Ray sit here. Classic is the middle register, the trouser that gets out of the way.

What makes Orlebar Brown trousers unique?

Our trousers are built on the same tailoring discipline as our swim shorts. The Italian linen line carries the signature side-fastener mechanism from our swim shorts up into a dress trouser, the only one of its kind in our wardrobe. Eight named styles across four fits, woven and knitted in Italy, with pressed creases, half-elasticated waistbands and welted back pockets running through the line.

How should I choose the right trouser?

We offer four fits across eight styles. For a closer, more structured cut suited to dinner, choose a tailored trouser: the Griffon in Italian linen, the Fallon in cotton-stretch, the Struma in merino, or the Alfred in cotton. For the same tailored line with elasticated ease, the Alex (Tailored Drawcord). For a looser, easier register, a relaxed trouser: the Sonoran, Cornell or Ray.

What is the difference between tailored, relaxed and drawcord trousers?

Tailored trousers have a closer, more defined cut with a pressed crease and a structured waist. Tailored Drawcord keeps the tailored line of the leg but swaps in an elasticated drawcord waist for easier wear. Relaxed trousers are cut wider through the leg for warmer weather and slower hours. Classic sits in the middle register.

What fabrics do Orlebar Brown trousers come in?

Italian linen, fine-stripe linen, cotton micro-cord, cotton-stretch with surface lustre, brushed cotton twill, and merino jersey. All woven or knitted in Italy.

Are Orlebar Brown trousers suitable for travel?

Yes. The merino sweatpants are knitted from breathable merino jersey in Italy with adjustable drawcord and zip pockets, designed for movement. The cotton-stretch and micro-cord trousers travel well too, holding their line without creasing easily.

Where can I wear Orlebar Brown trousers?

A linen trouser with a linen shirt reads as smart-casual lunch. A cotton-stretch trouser with a knitted polo reads as dinner. A drawcord trouser with a towelling polo reads as resort. A merino sweatpant works for the long flight home.

Are Orlebar Brown trousers sustainable?

Orlebar Brown is a carbon neutral company, rebalancing carbon through Blue Carbon projects with SeaTrees. Many of our trousers are knitted from merino or woven from linen, naturally low-impact fibres.
